BGMI Remove from Google play store
Google has pulled the popular battle royal game Battlegrounds Mobile India, more popularly known as BGMI, from Play Store in Idia after a New Delhi order a year after developer Krafton launched the app following a ban on similar title PUBG in the South Asian Market.
Google delisted the app from the play store a person familiar with the matter told Tech Crunch that Krafton delisted the app from Apple’s App Store Thursday evening. The iPhone maker didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Meanwhile, Google issued a statement on the removal stating, ” ON receipt of the order following the established process we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.”
Why is BGMI banned in India?
Krafton said it had cut ties with its publishing partner Tencent and pledged to invest $100 million in India’s gaming ecosystem. Krafton – which has backed several Indian startups including Godwin GAming, Loco, Pratilpi, and KUKU FM in the past one and a half years – told TechCrunch earlier this week that it was on track to deploy about $140 million in the country by next month.
According to a report by IANS, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ( RSS ) affiliated Swadeshi Jagran Manch has supported this initiative by Prahar and has called for an investigation into the antecedents and china’s influence of BGMI PUBG.
In February 2022, Prahar, an NGO urged the government to block the Chinese gaming app BGMI-PUBG and add it to the list of 54 Chinese apps banned on February 14, 2022, saying its omission from the list is a clear lapse in judgment on the part of the Government.
